Context
One piece, worn from the first frame to the last: a coat assembled from several different wax prints, none of them dominant. It is a garment with several origins before anyone puts it on.
I shot it in central Cape Town, against the grey stone of the colonial buildings, then inside a container standing open on a truck. The container is not a backdrop picked for its looks: it is the object those fabrics arrive in. Putting it in the frame says it, without anyone having to explain it.
