About Sid Marin, creative director and fashion photographer, Paris
- Where does your eye come from?
- I'm a photographer and creative director based in Paris. I have been shooting and editing my own images since I was seven. Over the last five years I have travelled across five continents and 40 countries, a journey that changed how I look through a lens. What sets my work apart is not the early start, it is the consistency: I pick up my camera every single day, and that has not changed in years. That daily practice, from the landscapes of Norway to the streets of Mexico, has given me a natural feel for how light and colour work together to tell a story.
- How do you direct someone in front of the camera?
- In my work, I'm always trying to capture the best in people. My goal is to help whoever is in front of my camera reach their full potential in a photo, no matter their background or experience. Having worked with models of all ethnicities, ages, and abilities across the globe, I've learned how to guide those interactions to make sure the end result feels impactful.
- Where have you worked?
- I have exhibited in France, and photographed celebrities and public figures during the men's, women's and Haute Couture Fashion Weeks, and outside those calendars too. I have worked inside the luxury world, for five star hotels among others: I know its codes, its rhythm and its silences, and I don't need them explained to me on set. As comfortable as I am in those high pressure environments, I care just as much about working with atypical brands that bring a fresh perspective, and about finding beauty in the details others would miss. I have learned to make the most of any situation I am handed, and I work anywhere in the world.

A second base in Cape Town over the winter. The seasons are reversed there: a Spring/Summer campaign can be shot in January, in real summer light, instead of waiting for June. For a brand producing in Europe, that is six months off the calendar.
